Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) Programmer

The Lincoln Group has partnered with a client in the metal forging fabrication industry in search of a Vertical Turning Lathe (VTL) Programmer to join their team on a direct-hire basis! This position will develop and maintain accurate and efficient CNC machine code for large-diameter VTLs. They will also be responsible for utilizing CAD, CAM, and other systems to manage a library of tooling, programs, and metal-cutting information.

Type of Hire: Direct Hire

Software: Mastercam and SolidWorks

Location: Oxnard, CA

Work Schedule: Choice of 3 shifts, with potential for overtime

Compensation: $35 to $55 per hour DOE

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

·Work closely with Production and Scheduling to ensure programs are prepared and at current revision prior to release.

·Collaborate with Design Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering on new products and tooling development to ensure commonality and suitability of manufacture.

·Capable of clear communication with Machinists to troubleshoot new programs and tooling applications.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

·Minimum of 2 years of technical training in Manufacturing or Industrial Technologies, A.A.S. or B.S. preferred.

·Familiar with machining on VTL’s large parts up to 80” in diameter and 90” in height.

·Must be proficient in reading Engineering drawings and understand GD&T.

·Experienced in discovering, analyzing, and solving problems in a production manufacturing environment.

·Significant VTL machine setup and operation cutting copper, aluminum, steel, titanium, and other alloys for Space/Aerospace applications.

·Minimum of 5 years of CNC Programming in a multi-machine environment programming various 3 to 4-axis mills and 2 to 4-axis lathes.

·Proficient in the use of current Mastercam and SolidWorks software.
